Our Story

Our Service

We have a service approval for an 80 place child care facility . Whilst it is intended to group children with their siblings early morning and late afternoon, the nominated age groups of each environment are as follows:

Ground Floor - 0 – 3 Years

The Seashell & Rock Pool rooms on the ground floor offer a program for children from 6 weeks to 3 years old each day.

First Floor 3 – 5 Years

There are two rooms on our first floor; the Wave Room & the Ocean Room. The Ocean Room offers a funded 3- & 4-year-old Kindergarten program for children aged 3 to 5 years old each day. This program is delivered by a Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teacher.

The Wave Room is for children aged 3-5 years old who are attending our service for long daycare only.

Centre Fees

Island Kids fees are $135 per day (minus Childcare Subsidy). This is inclusive of all meals and nappies.

Our Centre Layout...

Families enter from the right-hand side of the current Clip ‘n climb building into a light filled, welcoming, reception area. Large stacking doors installed in both the Babies (Seashell) and the Toddlers (Rock Pool) Room on the ground floor, flood the entire building with natural light.

The Seashell Room caters to children aged 6 weeks to 2 years.
The Rock Pool Room at the front caters to children aged 2-3 years.

A staircase to the right of reception takes you to the first floor.  These are our 3- and 4-year-old funded kindergarten and long day care rooms (the Wave & Ocean Rooms) catering to children aged 3-5yrs.

Large ceiling fans and purposefully placed split system air conditioners provide comfortable inside temperatures all year round.

Inside play areas, both upstairs and downstairs, flow seamlessly to the outdoors, with stackable doors giving control over the ever-changing elements of the Phillip Island weather. A soft fall rubber surface has been laid in areas outside allowing educators to set up challenging climbing equipment safely. Other surfaces include timber, synthetic turf and decking. Raised garden beds, planted out with trees, flowers and vegetables are moveable and will be found both inside and out allowing children to connect to nature. Other play spaces will include sand, rocks, mud, and water.

Modern and innovative fittings, fixtures and furniture allow for flexible, open-ended design. Well defined spaces will include small spaces to allow for quiet, small group play and individual play. Large, open spaces will encourage both large muscle movement and loud play. Children will have options to play in a natural, landscaped play area, a rubber surfaced bike track the full length of the building or on the synthetic grass surfaces on the ground floor and first floor balcony.

Immunisation History

Prior to enrolment, the centre requires a copy of your child’s Immunisation History Statement from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).

You can get your immunisation history statement straight away using either:

Child Care Subsidy (CCS)

The Australian Government may provide financial assistance towards the cost of your child’s care. If you would like to access this assistance, you will need to complete a Child Care Subsidy assessment with Centrelink by following these steps:

  • Sign in to your myGov account. If you don’t have one, you will need to create a myGov account at https://my.gov.au.
  • Select Complete your Child Care Subsidy assessment task.
  • Work through the steps to provide new information and confirm your current details.

For instructions on how to use myGov click here.

CCS is a payment from the Government that will provide financial assistance towards the cost of your child’s care and reduce the cost of your total child care fees. It is available to you if you are a parent, foster parent or grandparent with a child in your care who is attending a child care program approved by the Government.

There are certain requirements you need to meet to be eligible for CCS. Until your CCS has been approved and has commenced, we will require full payment of your child’s early learning and care fees.

What should I know about the new Child Care Subsidy?

There are three key factors that will determine how much Child Care Subsidy families may receive:

  • The combined family income – how much families earn
  • Your fortnightly family activity level – how much families work, train, study or volunteer
  • The fees charged by the child care service
