Our Story

The Murphy family have a long association with Phillip Island spanning over 50 years. A favourite holiday spot soon became a business venture for the family with Steve Murphy and wife, Cath, moving to Cowes from Berwick to run Waterfront Computers in 2011. The next business venture for the family was the ever popular, Clip ‘n Climb indoor climbing centre where Steve and Cath currently work.

The Murphy family have also been heavily involved in owning and operating child care centres in the Berwick area since 1998.

Edrington Park Child Care Centre & Kindergarten is managed by Jackie and Kelly Murphy. With a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and an approved child care provider for the last 26 years, Jackie is well qualified and experienced in this field. Jackie is responsible for all aspects of licensing and regulations dealing directly with the Department of Education and Training.

Island Kids ELC is managed by Caitlyn Watkins (Jackie’s daughter). Caitlyn has a Bachelor of both Primary and Early Childhood Education. Caitlyn has many years experience in the child care industry working in the Berwick centre from 14 years old.

It was Anne and Terry Murphy who first instilled a business mind into their children, Jackie, Steve and Kelly and this now continues in their grandchildren through Caitlyn.

Throughout their childhood they saw their parents and grandparents set up many and varied businesses and as the children moved into adulthood their own skills, interests and qualifications naturally extended into business ownership.

Anne and Terry now sit happily back in retirement on the island, still vested and interested in the current and new business venture that lies ahead. It was Anne and Terry’s early success as business owners that continues to enable the family to provide much needed services to the communities of both Berwick and Phillip Island.

We look forward to a long association with the children, families, friends and community of Phillip Island.
